Moones Khoshbakht is an experienced Ashtanga yoga teacher with over a decade of dedicated personal practice and teaching. She was authorized Level I by the late Sharath Jois at the Sharath Yoga Centre (SYC formerly KPJAYI) in Mysore, India in 2017, after years of immersive study and practice in the Ashtanga tradition.

Her journey with yoga began while living in India, where she was completing a Master’s in Visual Arts. Drawn to yoga as a form of moving meditation and spiritual exploration, she found in the Ashtanga method a powerful path that resonated with the same depth, discipline, and creative inquiry that shaped her work as an artist.

Originally from Iran—where she was the first to establish traditional Mysore-style Ashtanga yoga—Moones brought the practice to her community with depth, integrity, and authenticity. She is now based in North East London, offering a thoughtful, modern approach to a deeply rooted lineage.

Her teaching is known for its clarity, precision, and adaptability. Moones is passionate about making the Ashtanga method accessible, inclusive, and responsive to each student’s body and background. She breaks down the traditional sequence into manageable, progressive steps and works closely with students to ensure the practice supports their unique needs, including physical limitations, injuries, trauma, and life transitions such as pregnancy or postpartum recovery.

She teaches with the belief that yoga should be both structured and healing, challenging yet safe — and always guided by deep listening, respect, and compassion.

Moones continues her studies through regular practice with Hamish Hendry in London and began her Ashtanga journey with Philippa Asher. She has also trained with senior teachers such as David Swenson and Ty Landrum, deepening her understanding of both tradition and evolution within the practice.
